I am on IInet 8MB Home 5 40/40 cos of the slow speeds and limited use, now its back to the speeds i used to have NOR I'm gonna be ripping thru DL's again...time to clear my 4TB Hard Drives lol. I am actually looking at getting Comcen/Spin deal with the 120GB $4.95 plan. They seem to have dropped their unlimited plans. Doesnt seem to be to many bad reports about Comcen/Spin like most cheaper ISP's
<3 @ my 1.5Mbit on an 8Mbit plan.
ive rebooted the router still cant get near 8mb
pings still hovering around 30ms which is good
pulling only 3 3.5 on speedtest though
Same here mate :(
as long as the pings stay low i will be as happy as a pig in shit
that sux for you guys that didn't get upgraded.. They might tackle a few more in the week? who knows.
I am sure you will all get upgraded eventually however.
If you want to chat /j #berty on austnet :)
horseshit !!

not happy JAN
Latency was low and stable all last night. I haven't done a speed test kind of pointless on the 1.5 plan. Latency is what I'm looking for anyways, there's not all that much I download beyond game patches, MS Technet and the occasional Linux .iso
I'm still interested in what is being provisioned in my DA on/by 21st June...I'm going to hold off upgrading my plan until I find out what is shaking there in case they are putting ADSL2 hardware in (I'm 100m from the RIM cabinet should fly).
All in all though I'm pretty damned happy. It took a while, but we finally got there. I don't know which person or organisation convinced Telstra to do the upgrades but they have my thanks.
My connection is still rock solid stable latency all night (19-26ms).
ADSL2 Would be nice, but I'm happy with this!
I'm going to hold off upgrading my plan until I find out what is shaking there in case they are putting ADSL2 hardware in
Is there a fresh concrete slab next to the existing cabinet? If there is they would be putting in an ISAM. I'f not probably wont get adsl2+ anytime soon.
fix my latency too please
http://www.speedtest.net/result/850457656.png Still, happy as larry. Are they looking at putting ADSL 2 into our RIM Paul, or is it all done?
Anyone noticed how grossly wrong the line checker is for Bertram phone numbers featuring ADSL2+ when thats false
Anyone noticed how grossly wrong the line checker is for Bertram phone numbers featuring ADSL2+ when thats false
Meh, yeah its always been like that.
I think if you're hooked up to a ADSL2 exchange it reports a positive with the usual disclaimer that 'due to Telstra RIMMING poor suckers', you might not be included as the internet world moves on.
Bring on NBN, but uncapped 8M will do nicely for now :)
Are they looking at putting ADSL 2 into our RIM Paul, or is it all done?
I haven't seen anything confirming this but it's always a possibility. I guess at the moment we should just enjoy our full speed 8mb connection. I know people with adsl2 that only sync at about 6mb so we are getting a better deal than them.
Hopefully the rest of Bertram/Wellard is done soon.
i hate you all
What RIM are you on???

The next upgrades are the 19th and 21st. Fingers crossed.
looks like you dont have to put up with me whinging anymore
Is that your consistent speed, grrofunger?
Is that the last of us in Bertram fixed, or are there people still waiting?
it was consistent last night and this morning before i came to work wont be home till late to check again though
pings were in the high 20ms at worst too
im in shock im at home now still 30ms pings and 728kb/s
hehe wellard need to wait longer rjw sorry.. that is the dodgy end of kwinana :P
Two weeks for the arse-end where all the Homes West folk live.
homes west ??! I don't think we have any homes west in bertram hey.. but that could change.
there is state housing scattered all throughout bertram except in bertram private estate which is a small part around champion drive and the school
The back end of Wellard has brand new Homes West houses filled with dole bludgers.

you in bertram?
Woot, Exetel are offering TW ADSL2+ plans soon....
So back to the thread topic :P, I just wonder if the big T will upgrade these ol'RIMS to ADSL2+, and perhaps the backhaul upgrades are there for that very reason????
ADSL2+? Havent seen many ISAMs about in Bertram..
So back to the thread topic :P, I just wonder if the big T will upgrade these ol'RIMS to ADSL2+, and perhaps the backhaul upgrades are there for that very reason????
No.
the backhaul upgrades are because of the amount of complaints they get because of peak time speeds being less than ten percent of the connection we are paying for.
Upgrading to ADSL2+ would require several hundred thousand dollars per rim.
eh?

I Hope so!
Yep i noticed there are two cabinets side by side up there.. I think one is an ISAM?
Anyone else notice the speeds last night were good, I mean really good, >840kb/s
I re-visited the TW excel reports again today, and they have changed.

There's DA's missing now??? And all the ADSL2+ ports have been removed...Mistake?
I received an e-mail from my ISP telling me ADSL2+ is available in my area, but this is partly true. I have ignored it as ports are enabled at the exchange, not the DA's. But I'm tempted to put in an application anyway, just to be certain I'm stuck on ADSL1.
I guess the question is..
Would you get ADSL2+ if you were locked to Telstra ADSL2+?
20MBit would be nice tho ;)
Would you get ADSL2+ if you were locked to Telstra ADSL2+?
I would hope so. Can't see why Telstra speeds could be worse than they currently are. Even if the speeds are the same, the plan is the same value, so it's no real loss. But the upstream gain would be awesome :P
Application is in...no word yet, but I'm expecting the "Sorry, no can do"
Anyone think its worthwhile voting on this NBN petition for Bertram? Nothing to lose but try it.
Most summer afternoons our ADSL connection (dodo) goes down then comes back up and then down again and then back up, at around 4-7 mintue cycles.
Anyone else seeing this?
Any idea what going on?
Mine does the same thing, holds sink for about 3-4 minutes, then drops. Happens precisely between 2pm and 6.30 then clears up. Been happening for years, ever 3-4 mths. Usually only goes for about 2 weeks. IInet cant do a single thing because Telfail comes out and claims nothing wrong with the line
Mine does the same thing,
Mine was displaying similar behaviour, but it'd be fine until the weather got hot. No problems all through the cooler months. On Monday it started mucking up around 11am. (It was hot (the weather))....
...then by 9pm it was down permanently. Called Dodo. 45 minutes trouble shooting through fax / alarm isolation swapping cables etc. Dial tone: check. No DSL light on modem. We finished up with the need to check the modem elsewhere.
Tuesday, check the modem elsewhere modem is fine. Call Dodo back and case is escalated. They keep in touch with progress (thanks Dodo). This morning (Thursday) Mrs says the extra lights on the modem are back on. I let Dodo know as requested. They said there had been a local outage this morning and understood work could still be in progress when I called. They contacted the outage service team and confirmed that there would be no more outages for the day.
??? Was the local outage related to fixing my issue?
??? Have my intermittent drop-outs in hot weather been fixed? (Today was mild.)
??? Legalis, will you see any improvement?
???
I actually notice it is during the hot periods too...wondering if the DSLAM has some issues with the heat?
hmm ive noticed the latency is quite bad lately. Ever since we had the backhaul upgrade it has been sweet. Last couple of weeks though it has been a bit dodgy.
Take a look at average ping to www.3fl.net below

Anyone else ?
WoW looks like some of Bertram are getting a "tophat" upgrade and of course my part of Bertram is not covered lol!
http://www.telstrawholesale.
why the flap is congestion back?
shocking latency spikes
crap speeds
flap!
could this tophat upgrade have added traffic to the network and thus reintroduced congestion?
this is shocking
could this tophat upgrade have added traffic to the network and thus reintroduced congestion?
no- all tophat sites have at least gigabit backhaul
no- all tophat sites have at least gigabit backhaul
It's just a pitty that Telstra have chosen only a few cabinets to "top hat", would be nice to see ALL of the RIM's in the suburb added to the list.
Of course MNDA077 will most likely be last, as the first to be installed and the last to receive an upgrade :(
Thanks Gareth. Weird congestion seems to be back though
And +1 to what mojo said
Do the whole suburb. It's a nightmare
MDA077 is mine too, but at least we are on the plan :) Also, from my research, the reason Telstra are doing the tophats, is that once the NBN is rolled out, they are being paid around $3k/customer that they migrate from one of their contracted ADSL2 plans onto NBN. If this is true (even with a smaller figure), than this would be a compelling reason for them to roll out Tophats, blanket drop letters to all of us to sign on the new ADSL2 plans and then roll us into the NBN later on.
MDA077 is mine too, but at least we are on the plan :)
Waht! Da077 is not on the list, I even had another look:
MDNACA14 MDNA Medina WA 99;100
MDNACA6 MDNA Medina WA 79;93
MDNACA7 MDNA Medina WA 82;86
MDNAP62 MDNA Medina WA 62
MDNAP63 MDNA Medina WA 63
MDNAP74 MDNA Medina WA 74
DA077 has a history of being upgraded later rather than sooner. I continue to get better performance on my 3G tablet than using it on the Wi-Fi...very sad...
Oooh, dam. I'm actually on the DA093....That sucks yours isn't on the list
well i could guarantee them 3k from me then but alas no tophat for my DA
Yes something strange is going on I am noticing pretty bad latency spikes lately..

Just got mine changed over today. I'm on DA093. 2.0MB/s downloads FTW!
WoW can't believe my DA has been missed LOL ffs.
+1
Wellard don't count :P
Medina DA077, 084 and 111 are now on the list. October December 2012. Somebody pinch me, I must be dreaming.
Medina DA077, 084 and 111 are now on the list. October December 2012. Somebody pinch me, I must be dreaming.
It could be a mistake :P
LOL i whinge and then my DA pops up? WTF?
I havent read this thread in months and just Monday I checked with TPG to see if I could get an adsl2 connection, and voila, got home today and speeds are clocking in around 11-12mbps where as my adsl1 was regularly 5-7. Same plan (100GB/100GB), same price, ($49), better speed. Not bad. I may be moving to Wellard next year if we buy the land we want to build, and of course sounds like NBN is coming down the pipe soon, but still nice.
Only 11-12Mbit? I would think if you are within 1km from the cabinet you would be hitting up to 20M? What's everyone else getting on these tophat style setups?
In my last house I was about 1km away from exchange and hitting 20M.
What's the difference comparing the DSLAMs in these cabinets to the ones installed in the actual exchange? Any performance limitations with the cabinet style of DSLAM?
I am syncing at 21mbit. My cabinet is not too far away from me.
I think there may be a downside though. Now that everyone has 20mbit I am starting to get high latency again! Hopefully it's just something on westnets side.
Actually slightly less on my tests tonight, 10mbps.
I live on Greenbrook Way, east of Johnson road, so I'm 4km from the exchange, but no idea on the distance from DSLAM.
I'm less than 1km from my RIM.
You are about the same distance as me donovan and most likely on the same rim (DA093). You should be getting ~20mbps sync speed like me.
Our RIM is near the park on daintree loop.
http://goo.gl/maps/lYdiK
Nice speeds Paul! You actually download at 21Mbps?
I am less than 300M away from my cabinet so when the tophat happens later in the year I am expecting at least 20Mbit.

Hmm, I just did a test now (Sunday morning) and only clocked 9mbs, seems to be worse every test I've done since switching to adsl2 mid last week. Still slightly faster than my usual 6-7 on adsl1.
Any idea why or what I could do differently? I'm with TPG, which shouldn't make much difference I'd think. Did a couple full resets on the modem, and entered some modem settings TPG sent me.
I would love 20mbs.
And yes I live close by that cabinet, walk the dog through that park pretty often.
Edit: nevermind, just a simple thing of changing the ADSL parameters on my router, it was still on adsl1. I'm not the most tech savvy guy... :P
On the first speedtest it clocked in at 19mbs, so very happy with that.
Nice speeds Paul! You actually download at 21Mbps?
When I download my legal linux iso's from usenet I can peak at 2/2.1mbps. Uusually I average at about 1.6 though.
Bastard! I'm on DA093 and with my Billion SNR tweak im 938/20000 but can only downloaed at about 1.6Mb max, avg bout 1.3Mb. Still pretty happy on my new Unlimited Clubtelco for $40/mth :)
clubtelco? sounds dodge lol..
FIX DA80 YOU BASTARDS !
Tension...
clubtelco? sounds dodge lol..

Other way around. EFTel owns ClubTelco/Dodo.
Good if you want connectivity at a reasonable price. Not so great if you want performance though (all connections terminate at a Sydney/Melbourne POP).
No activity for DA084 as yet.. bad latency tho yesterday
How is everyone else going in bertram? Been ok for me.. Anyone else signed up for 2+ ? I want to see speed tests ppl!! :)
Still nothing for my cabinet and its 1st Oct!! heh Technically they have another month...
Top hat installed on CA77, which stands next to DA077...
Not sure if it's connected, but must be days away from completion.
do 80 !!!!!!!
WOW mojo that must have just happened today. I checked it this morning and it was most certainly not there. Will check it out tomorrow. I notice there are two cabinets there? Hard to know which DA's are using which cabinet? I'm DA084.
I'm DA084.
I think DA084 is in the park off Budd Way, not near the Lake, which is DA077
Yes i thought that too but the tophat spreadsheet lists 77,84,111 under the same heading? But DA111 is in emerald park so maybe your right maybe there are 3 cabinets but ive been told one cabinet can service multiple DA. We will see. Are u DA 77? Keep checking for Open2 status :)
thanks
Open2 fail
:(
Mojo let me know when your cabinet gets the "G" painted on it.

There's something wrong with that. At 15.5 attenuation you should get 8Mbps on ADSL1 or around 20Mbps on ADSL2+ (I'm not sure which you're on). You sync at 3.5Mbps.
Also, that's a LOT of errors. Do a pingtest and see if there are any lost packets.
that is screwed
it appears ive had the old RIM 3mbps cap put back on
i was getting 8 yesterday
The 3Mb cap was done upstream. Nothing to do with sync speed. Id say your router is dodge?

Azureal.. unlucky mate DA089 is not on the list :(
One street over and you would have been DA084.. Typical huh?
amnet cant tell me anything except they can see that it drops out during the day and is stable at night
they have no idea
You can ask Amnet to send out Telstra to investigate the fault.
If they find nothing however you will be slugged.
he reset the port
suggested a lower profile to help stability if needed
??
thanks tension
do you know how much?
knowing my luck it will somehow be my fault like my dog pissed on some tiny crack in the paving that has trickled down and hit the telstra cable then rolled onto the connection terminals and caused all the dropouts
and it will probably be affecting the entire street along with the shops and the school and i will be up for a fortune.
jokes aside i thought it might be something like that or a mouse eating a cable in the roof or something really vague and stupid
but if it was something like that wouldnt i get dropouts at night too?
From memory its like $300..
The problem is if the issue is not occuring at the time he may not be able to find it.
Is the issue repeated in some kind of pattern or can it happen at any time in the day?

mojo any work around that cabinet near the old lake?
Not a thing, even the lake works seems to have slowed..and the road works, whats with that?
I got my ISP to apply for ADSL2+ on the Friday when I saw the top hat fitted, all that can happen is it's rejected at some stage. I'll just re-apply.
Just wonder if being on the homeline basic will stop Telstra from changing to 2+?? Was thinking they may have a flag on their system which will reject the app each time. So I might up the phone plan just in case, don't know if anyone knows more on this?

not going to be an issue at all.
So no upgrade for me in the foreseeable future. NBN will arrive before Telstra get anything done.
This sucks balls.
mojo no point applying until you see OPEN 2 PASS.

Still says no deal...
And I had a look for the "G" and not to be seen yet. It will probably take a bit for the application to get rejected, or it might stay in the system..who knows...
Fingers crossed
Why is there two cabinets side by side? One has a tophat one doesnt.. That is weird. It is most definitely not an ISAM or we would have had ADSL2+ already with no tophat required.
The one up on Budd Way services DA089.
So I believe my DA084 is in that same cabinet as DA077.. No idea how to know for sure but the maps seem to indicate this.
http://www.telstrawholesale.
Thoughts?
Whats taking so loooooooooong!!!!!
They keep getting stuck in traffic and by the time they get there, it's time to clock off? No sign of them hauling fibre or has that already happened? Seemed to be visible action around Hammond Park/Success when they were pulling in new fibre.
Result: Open 2 (Zone 1) , Pass , Y001 , Product is supported.
I presume that I need to get Westnet to do something to get my router connecting as ADSL2...I've asked them to put a speed upgrade through on my line although apparently my account is already on the ADSL2+ plan.
Hopefully it can get sorted anyway. I've waited this many years, another couple of days _shouldn't_ matter.
Change submitted through iiNet toolbox :)
although apparently my account is already on the ADSL2+ plan.
Not sure how that's possible. They are completely different line codes. You definitely need to ring them and get it swapped over.
Yeah it seemed strange, although it is possible that Westnet separate the accounts from the line codes. I'll see what happens anyways.
Yes it is strange. They have to pay Telstra more for an ADSL2+ port don't they?
Application submitted, can't wait :)
I must have rebooted my router like 10x lol.
Got a message back from WestNet they are basically waiting on Telstra to update their systems so that they can proceed with a line speed change request. Interesting that Amnet are able to go ahead, but not interesting enough for me to investigate further :)
OK may take a little while to go through then..

I am DA084 which is in the same cabinet. Don't worry your speed change will go through soon.

I checked with my ISP yesterday (iiNet) as I done my speed upgrade request the other day through toolbox.

Correction, Emerald park is connected to two different cabinets, one of which is p77 (first connection) now also has a second feed to another cabinet (CA number escapes me) in Bertram as well. You could be on either and or swap between. I have swapped people between before.
P77 has two cabinets because they could not fit all the ADSL1 ports in the original RIM and then built the ADSL1 CMUX ports in the second cabinet. They have a tie cable between. IE one does dial tone, one does ADSL1. (Now ADSL2+ with the top hat)
Might see if I can swap then. I bet there would no ports available for a transposition though
Oh and i built my house before the school was complete and even before champion drive extended past the school site. It used to be a dead end in that direction and just dirt road

Hmm same as us then..... looks like you got jipped.
Hopefully you can get moved, apparently there are more ports with top hat now ????? Not sure.
Looks like you finally got some speed Tension

Not as good as your sync haha..
Seems to have settled down now with the drop outs so might just stick with the Belkin.. I think I would get better sync with a Billion though..
Pretty happy with it. I notice speeds drop in peak periods but not a big issue.
Who needs NBN eh? :P
Me
Only another year mate.. Whats another year after waiting 5 eh?
Only another year mate.. Whats another year after waiting 5 eh?
Unless NBN comes to its senses and decides to redo the roll out plan ...
They are getting into trouble with delays supporting new releases, this has to cause a change.
Perhaps they may decide to installs to slow to zero speed areas only at first , to ensure higher % uptake....
My port got changed today... took an intervention by the Social Media team at Telstra to put the order in (after the phone guy didn't submit an order), but it is all good now!
On "DA 111".
Speed? DA111 is in Emerald Park right? At least 1KM away?
Haha good on ya bro..
Got a nice little pamphlet from Telstra yesterday. ADSL2+ now available!! $80 for 50G. OMG where do I sign?!
Thinking of buying a different house in Bertram its on DA084
cant remember was that tophatted?
Yes thats my DA. Prob run out of ports now though ;)

what a flapping day in Bertram !
I was up at a mate's place north of the river drinking and gaming Saturday. Where was the fire?
started behind the school , went right up through the bush behind the shops, then up johnson road towards thomas road, jumped johnson and up towards 'the sanctuary' then kept going up past that old car wreckage place near the servo and onto the freeway
was massive
NBN Fibre to commence next month :D
excuse me while i go change my pants
Reference Tension? All i could find was construction starting in Medina next month, with TBA still on other suburbs in the area.
Don't get me wrong, I really, really, REALLY want you to be right :)
Yeah i dont think we will see any physical activity for some time especially when construction commencing is worded as such:
"Construction commenced relates to the phase of work in an area where contract instructions have been issued and our construction partners can commence work on detailed design and field inspections. It also refers to the date that NBN Co releases the rollout map for your area and signals the beginning of engagement with your local community and council."
and pretty much all of Leda,Orelia,Bertram is highlighted as:
"Construction to commence within one year we will commence construction in your area from Feb 2013 in phases with last construction scheduled to commence in Nov 2013*."
so we could have contracts issued Feb right up to Nov? and then they can start doing inspections !??!
when does the digging and laying start? 2014 ?!?!
we wont see a service until 2015, it says average time to service from 'construction commencing' to be 12 months but i seriously doubt we will have Active NBN services by Feb 14 or even Nov 14
Yes the whole Kwinana area has a Feb 13 Nov 13 timeline.
So construction will definitely commence this year. When it is actually available though is anyone's guess.
I read it the way groffunger did. Their wording states that the NBN will be available 12mths AFTER the construction phase ie 2015
There's been an NBN cabinet installed just off Calista Ave, Calista near the dry cleaners and deli since before christmas...
flap calista
Anyone online atm? PPP auth fail here according to amnet telstra outage to medina area?
im with amnet and online
Well thats weird. I get line sync but looking at logs router is unable to find any PPP servers. I rekn Telstra have fkd up
im not tophatted
could that be why we are different?
Long time, no visit from me. Everything's been OK.
Until last Thursday. Since then, all activity has slowed.
I was fine with the WWOS live cast of the TDU on the lowest quality setting Mon to Wed then from Thursday on it would constantly drop audio and frequently buffer. My internet radio feeds have also been suffering, dropping out many times/day. Youtube loads are terrible. Even a simple refresh of a BOM data page takes 5+ seconds.
The speedtest of my 8Mbps Dodo connection reveals nothing wayward: 121ms / 2.79Mbps / 0.26Mbps.
Chrome on xp and vista.
update: Dodo issues....
So Telstra decide to give my port to someone else. GG.
Finally sorted.. Geez.
Interesting development on the NBN front: construction in the Kwinana area was scheduled to be in four stages, with the final stage commencing in November 2013. As of the latest one year rollout plan, construction is now scheduled for three stages, with the final stage commencing in June 2013.
Potentially good news.
Yep looks like first phase has started in Medina. No doubt we will be last lol!
final stage commencing in June 2013.
Just in time for my birthday, would be a nice present :)
Can't wait to get connected to 100mb's plan
http://www.nbnco.com.au/asse
search Bertram on there
we are part of 'South Coogee' which is 'non metropolitan' apparently
last FSAM construction should commence by June 2013
ok my bad lol
just a few posts up Cazart already mentioned the bring forward date to June 2013
Wellard NBN thread here....
Any news or updates on the NBN front in Kwinana / Berty area?
Morning All! Been a while since I've posted in here.
Looks like constructions is scheduled to commence by July 30, this is what comes up when I type my address in on the nbnco.com.au -> when do I get it? page.
I haven't had much trouble with my ADSL connection, constantly getting about 1.7MBs downloads. There have been one or two issues but I think they were moreso to do with my provider (II) than the hardware in Bertram.
I see construction has slowed on the new community centre near the shops! I don't know why they even bothered.

I know someone who is keen to hold portraiture classes there. Bring it on.
Oh, and it will also keep the park over Johnson Rd clear of the pollies next state election. The park is for kids.
Good news Sanctuary Reserve and Price Parkway Estates, Bertram.
NBN status changed last week to construction started (March 2013).... oh yeah.
NBN status changed last week to construction started (March 2013).... oh yeah.
Excellent! My address is in the area.
Lets just hope it's close enough to completion before the election or it may get canned!
Given how quiet this thread is, maybe it's just my service.
Over the last week or so we have been having internet outages during the day for an hour or so. I assumed some work was being done somewhere. Connection speed when reinstated was normal.
Yesterday our reinstated connection was terrible 500+ms pings and 470Kbs downloads. (Usually 110 ms, 3.5Mbps)
Today, outage as per usual. After about an hour, reinstated as per regular speeds. Then another outage... that is still going. 10hrs.
By 2pm I was investigating. Dodo has a Customer Service Guarantee Exemption in place for many parts of south west WA... as does iPrimus... as does Telstra.
https://accountmanag
http://www.telstra.com.
Services expected to be back to normal by 7th June. Also found that the phone line is down. Probably was in all the above cases.
Have been in touch with Dodo through their critical support email. Waiting....
Anyone else seeing anything like this? the day time outages or the current on-going outage?
Back up @ 10am. No phone / internet for 23 hrs. Speeds back to normal though. :-)
Anyone able to post a speed test on RIM in Berty?
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/2856899069
I seem to have my threads capped lately. Can max my connection with multi thread only. Local transfers seem to cap out at about 14Mbit.
Billion 7800N here.
Anyone else?

Well there is some sort of issue out there . http://servicestatus.telstra.
The service status shows faults that affect many users, but not neccessarily "MSD" level ( http://www.telstra.com.au/con
Anyway the service status website lets you know when its fixed, and if after they fixed the servicestatus issue you still have a problem you might assume they won't ever fix the problem because its specific to you.
and we are back...
Anyone happy to join me in some comparative speed testing? We want to go with another ISP but want to be sure we are getting better performance for up to double the spend.
I'm with Dodo and though the price is great and the phone support are very nice, the congestion at peak times and the number of outages we've had are giving us reason to look elsewhere. (50-60% outages have been due to Telstra hardware but in some cases compounded by Dodo)
For a rough idea, we are just north of Sanctuary Reserve, sync at 14Mbps and speedtest.net at 6-9Mbps most of the time. Peak times though are down to 1.5Mbps. Ping is 110msec. (Internode in Perth)
So what testing?
Maybe 3 consecutive test twice a day over three days? Two weekdays and a weekend? Peak time and any other time that suits? Any other suggestions?
Let me know if you want do this and we'll agree to times so we've got a more accurate result.
I like on Sanctuary Drive close to the daycare and new community centre. I sync at around 21mb and am always able to achieve max throughput whenever downloading. (WestNet). Haven't had any congestion issues since the work was done on our RIM and then they did the ADSL top hat upgrade on top of that.
17Mbps from Moston Cres (iinet)
around 21mb and am always able to achieve max throughput whenever downloading. (WestNet)
So that's the iinet network yes?
17Mbps from Moston Cres (iinet)
Is that sync or speedtest.net?
Out of interest, what score does google give your ISP in the video quality report?
www.google.com/get/videoqualityreport/
And if you play this youtube video at 720p in the early to mid evening, does it play through OK or does it need to buffer every 30 seconds?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJoVjOk1SVY
Thanks for the feedback.
So that's the iinet network yes?
telstra network, iinet turbo pack
Is that sync or speedtest.net?
speedtest.net
sync is 21Mbps
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJoVjOk1SVY
Plays fine :) 1min 30 buffered ahead of current play position
We are all on the RIM so things can get congested at peak times
Any current Bertram-Internode stories out there? They generally have a good wrap, and if there is no speed advantage with iinet I had might as well pocket the change.
and if there is no speed advantage with iinet I had might as well pocket the change.
Only reason I went iinet was to get the FREE line installation Waiver ($299)
Otherwise I would have went Westnet
So am I correct in assuming that most in Bertram-land do not have your connection this morning? (post storm)
edit
Why is it that only Bertam is listed for outages in the 6167 area?
http://servicestatus.te
It's not like we are the only suburb with that postcode....
edit2
another power supply failure the second in 10 days.
Telstra, thanks for tophatting. We appreciate it. Can you please fix whatever so that our suburb doesn't have an outage very few weeks....
So am I correct in assuming that most in Bertram-land do not have your connection this morning? (post storm)
Did not have time to check this morning...
I wish IINET would install a DSLAM in Bertram....or better yet, roll out a FIBRE optic NBN from Wellard (literally the next suburb over)
I feel your pain Dave. I dislike TELSTRA with a Passion. They are at the top of my shit list followed by FOXTEL
Im potentially moving to the new Wellard Square area (Chipping Cresent just off Lambeth Cre), i work for amcom and asked one of the guys in amnet to do a check on the address for me. No NBN plans to extended the rollout, no ports left on the exchange up in Kwinana, currently running on Pair Gain. Its the great F***you, you cant have internet ever, ive ever seen.
Its the great F***you, you cant have internet ever, ive ever seen.
Welcome to Kwinana :)
I was on Vivid Wireles for the first 2.5 years, you wait a little longer but at least you have internet
I live in Bertram and still don't have the net. There an eta on the fix?
There an eta on the fix?
No ETA yet. Dodo are too busy to answer the call.
Who is your ISP Dinudur?
Iinet
My Internet is still working on Moston Cres (IINET)
Mine is still down on Sanctuary Drive.
Yep still down here on Waterfields Dr.
Just called Dodo and whilst there is no ETA on the fix, she called Telstra while I waited and after that call told me that "Telstra are working very hard to fix the problem".
Feel free to call your ISP so they can get in Telstra's ear also.
There's a few issues logged in Medina now too. (PSTN & ADSL)
http://servicestatus.te
edit
...and a few hours later Bertram has some PSTN faults logged also. I get no dial tone atm.
How do I read this? Telstra's doing a bit of an overhaul for improved reliability. We will find out I suppose.
