Indeed. And I've got the best link rate I've had 19545 Kbps (19.5Mbps). Congestion is still taking a hit though 2.66Mbps.

Apart form the pain of two days downtime net result is a win. Thanks Telstra.

    Hey Guys,

Noticed 3 Big Telstra Vans on Thomas Road / Orelia this morning working on the Telstra Pit. Must have been some major repairs.

My speeds are actually worse since coming back online. Used to be able to max out downloads at 1.8mb/s and now it's only hitting 1.0mb/s :(

    What have you done Telstra!!!

  • Motion2082

Give it a couple more days, I'm sure a lot of testing/adjusting is still happenning as we speak

Yeah I think it might have come good again.

I wonder if we will ever get NBN in Bertram :( I remember before the Libs took over my area said it had been due to start construction or had just started (it was marked that for like 12 months), obviously a lie.

What speed test do you use risq?

    obviously a lie.
We had some NBNco blokes in our front yard 3x times about 18 months ago, pulling ropes in the Telstra pit. So work had officially started. They did however say that we shouldn't expect it within 24 months. Of course everything has changed now.

I'm down from 17Mbps to 13Mbps tonight, keeps dropping in and out

I remember seeing this, hands down the worst thing that has happened since Libs came to power...no NBN

Hey Motion, risq and other's how's your ping to:
    login.worldoftanks.asia

I't my only MMO game at the moment but my pings are often up around 230ms. Another iinet customer in Perth says he's getting 60ms but that is 'on net'. We cannot get 'on net' as we are on a rim, but am interested to see if your figures are comparative to his.

How to do a ping test (saves asking if required):

    Sweet. Nice work there Motion.

Off Net Home2 Turbo with Turbo Pack
I see the Off Net Home2 pack that becomes Turbo when you select the ADSL2 speed. Is this it or is there an additional turbo pack somewhere?

    Hi Daveing,

    That's the one

    1) Go to http://www.iinet.net.au/internet/broadband/adsl/
    2) Select Off-Net ADSL1&2
    3) Under select your speed choose "Turbo up to ADSL2 speeds"
    4) Select your plan

Thing that sucks about this plan is Telstra get $24 for the phone rental and an extra $10 to use their ADSL2 port, so essentially IINET are only making $45 but your paying $79 per month.

All because we are stuck on Telstra's RIM, oh well at least we have Tophat. My brother only gets 4Mbps on his connection in the Adelaide Hills. 15-17Mbps at my place, I'm doing ok :)

Yea I don't have the internet and I'm with iiNet....4 days is bloody ridiculous..... Anyone call Telstra directly yet? I'll be calling iiNet after work

Well it was back at when I got home early afternoon. Telstra's outage notification is still in place though, for completion on the 16th. Maybe they are fixing different bits of Bertram (and Medina)at a time?

That was a nice month. ADSL down again this morning. No notifications on Telstra's website yet. Calling Dodo. (edit fault lodged)

There is also at least another 'neighbour' down so probably Telstra issue.

  • Dinudur

Anyone else having their ADSL down too?

Have they done it? Have Telstra fixed this for good? Check back in 21 days for the answer.....

From memory we had another 9hr outage within a couple of days of the 9th Feb. But since then, only the odd 2min what I'll call a 'reset'. I believe Telstra have fixed it. Well done Telstra!

Well done fellow residents for not burning down the town in rage.
Some of you may have taken it out on the local flora though :-(

Very slows speeds in Bertram the past 2 weeks, what gives?

    Average http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4322541296

  • daveing

I haven't tested it lately until this afternoon. Got 3Mbps down and 0.75Mbps up.

Our conn. goes slow from about 11:30am untill about 11pm each day. This afternoon's speeds are typical I reckon.
Outside these times everything feels much more robust (not fast though).

Incidentally, speedtest.net, with my wife's Telstrs 4G phone usb tethered to her MBP, gave us 6Mbps down and 27 Mbps up at the same time the above results were recorded. Never see such a low down rate before on 4G.

I suppose there's some major peak time traffic.

I've just tested 3/0.7 Mbps down/up now. Pretty typical from my experience (with Dodo).

  • Motion2082

This probably illustrates the problem better http://www.speedtest.net/results.php?sh=f166e2e47723d73cf97f66edcf8e2e21&ria=0

Called iinet, they told me to look at my SNR and Line Attenuation. Had to give them a raincheck as I was not at home at the time...Then all of a sudden within 24 hours everything was back to normal. It's a conspiracy!

It's been quiet. Everyone's been getting reasonable internet, yay!

    Until last night about 6pm.
    Speedtest.net indicated 1.9Mbps (usually 9.2Mbps).

This morning, 4.28Mbps. (Telstra in Perth, with Telstra these days).

    Syncing at 13930Kbps
    Att: 24.5dB Dn 15.9dB Up
    Noise M: 5.9dB Dn 6.9dB Up

How's everyone else in Bertram doing? Or is it just me?

I've since sold and moved out of Bertram to the USA where cable/fiber speeds in double digit Mbps are standard. I used to live on Charlton Way, Bertram and was restricted to ADSL 1. But I'm curious, has any progress been made? Next year will be 10 years since this post opened.

We are all on top-hatted cabinets giving us ADSL2+ at around 13Mbps. It still has it's crap months though....
